U.S. Sending Air Defense Ammo, Anti-Drone Machine Guns to Ukraine

November 28, 2022

The Pentagon announced Wednesday it will send Ukraine up to $400 million in artillery ammunition, weapons and supplies, Military Times reported.

“With Russia’s unrelenting and brutal missile and [unmanned aerial systems] attacks on Ukrainian critical energy infrastructure, additional air defense capabilities remain an urgent priority,” the Pentagon said in its announcement outlining the systems to be sent. “The additional munitions for NASAMS and heavy machine guns will help Ukraine counter these urgent threats.”

DOD also released an updated fact sheet outlining what the U.S. has sent to Ukraine since Russia invaded in February. The assistance totals more than $19 billion.
