VA Reports Biggest Drop in Vets’ Homelessness in Five Years

November 3, 2022

Data released by the Department of Veterans Affairs this morning shows an 11% drop in veteran homelessness since 2020, the biggest drop in more than five years.

There were still more than 33,000 veterans experiencing homelessness at the federal government’s point-in-time count in January, which was compared to a single night count in early 2020, before the pandemic.

“One veteran experiencing homelessness will always be one too many, but the 2022 PIT Count shows that we are making real progress in the fight to end veteran homelessness,” VA Secretary Denis McDonough said in a press release.
