The city of San Francisco, California now mandates that private employers pay some Guard members and reservists for they time they spend away for training or deployments. If the private sector salary is higher than the worker’s military pay, the company will be required to make up the difference, according to the law that was passed last week, as Military Times reported. “This… is about fairness for service members that are putting their lives on the line to defend our country,” said city legislative aide Alan Wong, an officer in the California Army National Guard who said some of his soldiers have lost income in recent years.

Netflix will spend more than $900 million on a new production facility at the former Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, as WFMZ reported.
