Fort Pickett, Virginia this week will be the first installation to formally change its name following the recommendations Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin accepted from the Naming Commission, Military.com reported. The Army National Guard base will become Fort Barfoot on Friday, honoring Col. Van T. Barfoot, a World War II Medal of Honor recipient with Virginia ties.
