Naval Air Station Joint Reserve New Orleans, Louisiana and Fresno Air National Guard Base, California have been selected to house new F-15EX Strike Eagles, according to an Air Force announcement. The announcement also said Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts will host the next F-35A Lightning II squadron, as On Base previously reported. The Air Force will conduct environmental impact studies before finalizing the decisions by spring 2024….

Truax Field, Wisconsin, home to the 115th Fighter Wing, has become the first Air Force base in the world to end all use of foam-based fire suppressants, according to WMTV. “Environmentally, we knew that this is what the community wanted to move towards,” the base’s civil engineer, Lt. Col. Mike Dunlap said. The Air Force has set an October 2024 deadline for all bases to move away from foam that includes PFAS.
