Navy Launches Course to Help Potential Recruits Get in Shape

April 24, 2023

A new training program is designed to help prospective sailors meet the physical requirements to join the Navy, as Stars and Stripes reported.

“The men and women we recruit to participate in this program have the desire and commitment to be sailors,” said Rear Adm. Alexis Walker, commander of Navy Recruiting Command. “[The course] is going to help our recruiters identify individuals who can be great assets to the fleet and give them the tools and the opportunities they need to excel.

The Navy expects to fall short of its fiscal year recruitment target by about 6,000 sailors, Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti told Congress last week.
