May 17, 2023

Reps. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) and Jason Crow (D-Colo.) are again pushing to crease a Space National Guard, an idea both the Trump and Biden administrations have opposed, Space News reported. The White House has said that a Space National Guard would be expensive and create more bureaucracy.

The new bill addresses that by establishing the new Guard in only seven states – Colorado, California, Hawaii, Alaska, New York, Ohio and Florida — and Guam.

Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) have introduced a separate bill to create the Guard.
