The Biden administration is releasing its fiscal year 2025 budget request today, kicking off a likely contentious appropriations season.
Next year’s budget release comes as lawmakers are still trying to finish work on spending bills for fiscal year 2024, which started Oct 1. Over the weekend, the President signed a six-bill spending package to avert a partial government shutdown.
Lawmakers have until March 22 to finalize six more spending bills, including those funding the departments of Defense and Homeland Security.
