The Army is soliciting bids to upgrade technology at base entry points, including the use of biometric data such as facial recognition. One RFP notes that physical access cards are “subject to compromise and in a pandemic environment [result] in a significant risk to the population that is to be protected,” Military.com reported.
The Army wants the upgrades to be clear enough to capture an accurate image of a driver even through a rainy windshield, NextGov Senior Editor Aaron Byrd wrote in Defense News.
