The Texas National Guard has constructed new barracks at Camp Swift using a 3D printer, a first for the U.S. military, Stars and Stripes reported. The technology developed by manufacturer ICON “will provide our military with the ability to quickly build resilient and energy-efficient structures while saving taxpayer money,” Sen. The Navy announced a $1.7 billion contract to reconfigure and expand a dry dock at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, Engineering News-Record reported….

DOD invested $128 million last year to support efforts to restore the Chesapeake Bay, the Virginian-Pilot reported. DOD is part of the Chesapeake Bay Program. “Since 1984, DOD has been a committed partner in Chesapeake Bay watershed restoration,” said Rear Adm. Charles Rock, commander of the Navy’s Mid-Atlantic Region.
