Gen. Brown Seen as Steady Hand as New Joint Chiefs Chair

October 2, 2023

Gen. CQ Brown officially became chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Sunday.

Brown is seen as “a more soft-spoken presence” than his predecessor, Gen. Mark Milley, and he “will strive to keep the military out of the political fray,” Financial Times reported, citing current and former colleagues.

“CQ was always scrupulous about that, and I would expect no less,” former Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said. “He understands the role of the military in a republic, and I think he will do that well.”

Brown has appeared at past ADC events, as has his spouse, Sharene Brown. She will join ADC again in November at Installation Innovation X in Orlando.
