Jan. 9: OLDCC to Host Webinar on Installation Resilience Tabletop Exercises

December 21, 2023

The DOD Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation is hosting a webinar Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. Eastern time on how states, communities and installations can use tabletop exercises to plan for and respond to natural and man-made threats, it announced yesterday in an e-mail bulletin.

“A tabletop exercise can facilitate a threat-based scenario to ‘dry run’ planned emergency response to disasters and catastrophic events,” the notice said. “The goal is to validate that response actions on and off installation are executed effectively and identify gaps in hard and soft infrastructure that can be addressed.”

The event, moderated by OLDCC’s Margit Myers, will feature speakers from the city of Fairfield, California, which partners with Travis Air Force Base, and the University of Rhode Island, which partners with Naval Station Newport. Each community was the recipient of an OLDCC Installation Resilience grant.

The announcement has information on how to join the Jan. 9 webinar.
