Students in Department of Defense Education Activity-run schools are again at the head of the class in national reading and math scores, DODEA announced.
Fourth and eighth grade students scored higher on the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress reading assessment compared to students in other states and jurisdictions. Fourth graders in DODEA-run schools also scored highest on math skills.
In a press release, DODEA Director Thomas Brady credited “the dedication and hard work of our teachers and administrators, along with the implementation of a rigorous College and Career Ready Curriculum.”
DODEA had the highest performance among black and Hispanic students of any state or jurisdiction, DOD said.
