Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) is asking the Marine Corps to reconsider building a 1,500-foot steel wall to protect a rifle training range at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Ewa Beach from erosion as sea levels rise. Some in the community worry it will cause more erosion at another beach nearby. “I don’t think this is necessarily the only way to protect [Marine Corps] resources,” Schatz said, according to Tribune News Service….
Businesses and residents in and around Clarksville, Tenn., are distributing more than 1,500 free frozen turkeys to veterans and military families at nearby Fort Campbell, Ky., Saturday. It’s the second annual Turkeys for Troops, Clarksville Now reported.
