Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) are asking the Army to do more to prevent suicide at rural bases in their state, according to Military.com. They sent a letter last week to the Secretary of the Army, which was also signed by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), chair of the Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee. “Service members stationed in Alaska are under an outsized level of stress from several angles, including behavioral health specialist shortages, financial challenges, infrastructure and transportation limitations, and the adjustment to living in a remote location with extreme cold weather,” the lawmakers wrote….

Registration is open for a pop-up event that offers free formal gowns for military-connected women and teens. Operation Deploy Your Dress and the Association of the U.S. Army are teaming up for the fifth annual event, taking place at AUSA’s Arlington, Virginia headquarters April 30, as Navy Times reported. There are also Operation Deploy Your Dress boutiques at Fort Rucker, Alabama, Fort Irwin, California, Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Drum, New York, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Hood, Texas, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington and Fort Eustis, Virginia.
