Army Aims to Become ‘Global Leader in Climate Security Innovation’

The Army’s climate change strategy will “proactively adapt to and mitigate climate change,” Jack Surash, acting assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy and environment, said recently, as National Defense Magazine reported. “We want to attempt to become, quite frankly, a global leader in climate security innovation.”

Army leaders said Thursday that the service’s plan will set a 2030 deadline to have an all-electric non-tactical vehicle fleet and carbon pollution-free electricity.

Climate plans from the Pentagon and the military services will be prominent discussion areas at ADC’s upcoming Installation Innovation Forum in Phoenix Oct. 30 through Nov. 2.
