The Navy has selected an area near Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard as its preferred location for a new National Museum of the United States Navy. “The exhibits of this new museum will create a living memorial to the U.S. Navy’s heritage of victory and valor, bringing to life the human experiences of serving at sea,” Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro announced Tuesday, according to a DOD story….
The CT Mirror looked into how the Navy’s need for new ballistic missile submarines is driving a “once-in-a-generation” economic boost in Connecticut, spurred by the advanced manufacturing training program known as the Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative. “The sheer volume and complexity of work that we’re infusing into the submarine industrial base is something that we haven’t had in a very long time,” said Whitney Jones, director of the Submarine Industrial Base initiative at U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command.
