The Navy on Tuesday sent the state of Hawaii its official plan for closing the Red Hill fuel tanks near Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, according to a DVIDS story. The full plan “is an important step forward towards the permanent closure of the tanks and piping infrastructure at Red Hill,” said Meredith Berger, assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations and environment….

Panasonic is breaking ground today on a $4 billion electric vehicle battery production plant at the former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, Kansas, The Kansas City Star reported. Panasonic said the facility will create 4,000 permanent jobs. State officials said it is the biggest economic development project in the state’s history.
