Five U.S. House members have introduced legislation to prohibit the federal government from closing Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina after reports that the installation is at threat from rising sea levels, according to Marine Corps Times. “Parris Island is fundamental to our national defense, and it’s vital we continue to make Marines there,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in a statement….

The Alabama National Guard has opened a “super-armory” in Foley. The Foley Readiness Center will be a centralized location for such operations as storm preparedness and recovery. “I can’t thank y’all more for this and the way that you have embraced the National Guard unit and this project,” said Alabama National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Sheryl Gordon. “As we go forward, we will continue to stay down here and serve the citizens in this community.”
