North Dakota has become the latest state to exempt military pay from state income taxes, as AP reported. “North Dakota is recognizing the sacrifice of military service and building on the momentum of our ongoing efforts to make ours the most military-friendly state in the nation,” Gov. Doug Burgum (R) said. Including North Dakota, 13 states will exempt military pay from state taxation, along with 14 states that partially exempt it. Nine other states don’t have a state income tax….

The Navy will begin to reopen submarine repaired dry docks at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Washington next month. Four docks in the region were closed in January because they were not ready for potential seismic activity, as Defense News reported….

The Montgomery Advertiser in Alabama highlighted the Montgomery-River Region’s selection as a Great American Defense Community. “In Montgomery, there’s a unity of purpose among elected officials, our military leaders and our business community for what we want to be,” Montgomery Steven Reed said. USAA is the official sponsor of ADC’s Great American Defense Communities program.
