Guard to Get Close to ‘23 Recruitment Goals

July 31, 2023

National Guard Bureau Chief Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson said last week that both components of the Guard will get close to meeting their troop goals by the end of the fiscal year, Stars and Stripes reported.

“We have been over 100% on our recruiting and retention for the last four months,” Hokanson said. “We are not declaring victory, but I think our recruiters have really adjusted to the new environment.”

The active duty Army and Air Force are expected to miss their targets in what has been an exceptionally difficult recruitment environment. The Navy is expected to come up short, too, but Marine Corps recruitment is surging, AP reported.
