Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was released from the hospital Tuesday and resumed his duties, DOD announced in a statement. Austin was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Sunday for a bladder condition related to a December prostate cancer treatment, his doctors said in the statement. They added that his cancer prognosis remained “excellent.”

Austin transferred his responsibilities to Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks Sunday, and authority was transferred back to him Tuesday, the statement said.

He appeared virtually this morning at a meeting of the international Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
