No Spending Deal Yet

February 26, 2024

Part of the federal government is set to shut down Friday night if Congress does not pass annual appropriations bills or a continuing resolution. Negotiators working on a bipartisan deal had expected to release it Sunday, but there is still no agreement, as The Hill reported.

Military construction, Veterans Affairs and some other accounts will run out of money Friday night. The rest of the federal government, including the military, is funded through March 8.

White House Meeting Tomorrow

President Biden has invited the top four congressional leaders to the White House Tuesday morning to discuss the appropriations crisis and encourage House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to pass funding for Ukraine, as Punchbowl News reported.
