USMC to Conduct ‘Wall to Wall’ Barracks Inspection to Develop Baseline for Changes

February 8, 2024

Over the next five weeks, the Marine Corps will inspect every barracks facility to catalogue any subpar conditions for future changes.

Marine Corps Installations Command has directed installation commanders to assign an E-7 or above active duty service member or unaccompanied housing civilian equivalent outside of the chain of command to conduct the inspection, according to a USMC press release.

“We’re going to take a look at every single barracks room and every squad bay to ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of each and every one of you,” Assistant Commandant and Acting Commandant Christopher Mahoney told Marines in a social media video. “These inspections are about setting the conditions for the kinds of changes we’re getting after in our larger Barracks 2030 initiative.”
