News Report Alleges Abuse at Child Development Centers; DOD Asks IG to Investigate

A new report from Military.com alleged abuse at child development centers at or near military installations.

According to its site’s timestamp, Military.com first published its report, “Unsupervised: Military Child Care Centers Slow to Report Abuse with Little Oversight,” Wednesday around 1 p.m. Eastern time. (You may need to create a free account to access the story.)

Military.com updated its story Wednesday night, adding an editor’s note that said DOD asked its inspector general to review the issue. Pentagon Press Secretary Major Gen. Pat Ryer told Military.com in a statement that DOD will “also work together with the military departments to ensure CDC facilities and staff meet the highest standards of care for our children and to promote appropriate accountability.”
