DOD has established an office dedicated to cyber policy, even as its chief has yet to be confirmed by the Senate, as Defense News reported. The office was mandated in the fiscal year 2023 defense authorization bill.
“In standing up this office, the department is giving cyber the focus and attention that Congress intended,” acting Defense Undersecretary for Policy Sasha Baker said in a statement.
For now, Ashley Manning has been named to oversee the office while the Senate considers President Biden’s nomination of Michael Sulmeyer to become the first-ever assistant secretary of defense for cyber policy.
