President Biden signed an order to block a Chinese-backed cryptocurrency mining firm from owning land near Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, AP reported. The order was in coordination with the multi-agency Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. The Treasury Department – one of the agencies that make up CFIUS – said the potential deal involved “specialized and foreign-sourced equipment potentially capable of facilitating surveillance and espionage activities” that “presented a significant national security risk.”…

The Free Lance-Star reported on how some high school graduates in Virginia are relying on the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program. It covers tuition, room and board, books and supplies for spouses and children of military families killed, missing in action, taken prisoner or rated at least 90% disabled as a result of military service in an armed conflict. The state is considering changes to how much the program will cover, the article said.
